The San Francisco LGBT Center, a nonprofit organization that provides employment and financial support, referrals, and youth services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, along with space for cultural events, is housed in a complex of two buildings (fig. 1). The larger, completed in 2002, is a glass box, its interior visible to passersby.
