Like much of the United States, Texas has seen significant expansion in higher education in recent years. Yet many workforce-development needs, particularly those requiring additional baccalaureate degrees, remain unmet in some areas of the state. Employers and students are calling for additional programs to develop workplace skills and to provide opportunities for career advancement. Increasing levels of education also would benefit individuals and society.
